Enemies
- Werewolves are characterized by darker skin and a muscular build.
- They have incredible strength but are not as fast on their feet.
- They are capable of jumping high, however jumping down is a harder feat and they may not land smoothly.
- During moments of high emotion (anger, lust, fear), they will often appear larger then they really are. This is due to their hair/fur bristling and blood rushing to their muscles and face. Their nails will also grow longer and harden for a more damaging attack.
- They have thick skin, built to withstand wounds.
- Their chest is larger then normal humans to hold larger lungs.
- They walk upright as any other normal human would, however they can comfortably move on all fours but only during a state of arousal or anger.
- Werewolves are the underdogs of all human subspecies. They are at times enslaved, hunted, or generally treated as a beast.
- Because of their heavy build, Weres tend to stay in the cold weather but are not limited to it.
- Acquired night-vision over the years of being kept in the dark.
- They don't sweat and will pant when overheated.
- Hairier then the average human.
- Average height is about 5'5" to 6'6"
- Live to about 250 years.
Myths:
- Shapeshifting- They do not turn into full-fledged wolves. This is often a misconception due to their appearance during arousal. They merely get bulkier and since they are naturally hairier, they often look wolf-like.
- Agile- Because of their large size, they are not as quick on their feet. Females tend to be faster then males however.
- The Vampire Enemy- While Vampires and Werewolves may fight for territory, they are not sworn enemies. They feel indifferent about one another. The hatred between them is on an individual basis.
- Wolf Bite- They did not originate from the bite of a wolf unlike the many stories told of them.
- Immortality- They are not immortals and do die of old age. They are also not quick healers.
- Their Bite- Werewolves cannot turn other humans into them. Their bite is merely lethal due to it's sheer size and force.
Origination
- Werewolves are the oldest race of humans aside from normal humans and they have not changed much over the years.
- Strong men and women were originally enslaved, used for their strength and protected their masters. It was years of being bred for their incredibly ability to work hard and protect that made them what they are today.
- Their hair is an adaptation to the cold weather in which they were kept and the basements that they had lived in. It was only about 500 years ago that they escaped from their enslavement. They still are suspicious of others and normally stick to themselves.
Weaknesses
- Sunlight- Werewolves can over heat in the heavy sunlight. They are able to walk around during the day but in extreme temperatures, they could have a serious heat stroke and possible die.
- Illness- Prone to illnesses such as bone issues, enlarged heart, stroke, excessive hair (more so then they normally would have), and other such issues. Much of this can be attributed to inbreeding during slavery.
Men
- Men are the protectors of their family and the guards to their home.
- They are more so the ones who hunt the sea-like race of humans because of their strength in pulling them from the water.
- They are generally aggressive with a short fuse.
- The men also do a lot of the trading, deals, and such with other human races to acquire things they are not normally privileged to.
Women
- The women are not as bulky or hairy as the men.
- They are extremely protective over their children and tend to stay with them all the time.
- Women help with the hunting, food gathering, and making their homes safe and comfortable. They tend to the children and cater to their men (usually).
- They are faster and lighter on their feet.
Having Children
- Werewolves cannot have children with anyone other than werewolves.
- Normally, the egg will not fertilize but if it does, it will result in a miscarriage.
- Werewolves are generally aggressive in their sexual encounters.
- They almost always mate for life. Should either wander from their mate, they are likely to be killed (whether male or female.)
- The children grow up and are normally attached to their mothers as she is their primary caregiver. She will often carry her children for further protection.
- They are taught to hunt and gather food from a young age with their mothers while the father will teach them how to fight.
- They are born with more hair but during puberty, the bulk of their muscle and hair grow.
- They continue to age, though slower then others for the rest of their lives and can die of old age.
Rituals
- Mating- The werewolves normally mate for life. Therefore, it can be a long time before choosing their perfect mate. At times, they may choose to fight one another to test their strength and show off their ability to protect the family.
- There are no marriage rituals.
- Birthing Deformities- Because of their history for inbreeding, some children may be born with deformities. So that their race does not become any more hindered by health problems, they may put these children 'to sleep' as hard as it may be for the parents.
The Caves
- The caves can either be deep within the mountains or underground caves. Both are equally used, depending on what island they live on.
- These caves are similar to castles but generally inverted. The werewolves may choose to live in a clan or individually.
- The caves have intricate tunnels for easy passage but also lead to dead ends, traps, and other tricks to keep intruders out.
- Unless educated by a werewolf, it's highly unlikely that anyone will make it through alive.
- They are not low class homes and are tall enough to walk upright. They have many of the normal appliances and structures aside from sunlight.
Enemies
- The Humans- The humans hunt the Weres as a sign of masculinity. One on one, a Were can kill a human easily. Therefore, humans tend to hunt in groups and will single one out and then attack. Wearing the skin of a Were is an honor.
- Aycayías- Weres enjoy snacking on Aycayías. Of all human subspecies, they will stay far away from the hungry beasts as much as possible. Aycayías are no match for Were's and once caught, there is essentially nothing anyone can do.
